History
In 2008, Junior Research Scholars was founded as the signature community service partnership between the Johns Hopkins Biomedical Scholars Association and Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Baltimore City. Initially, JRS functioned to support existing summer science initiatives at Dunbar. Over the years, JRS has evolved into an independent year long mentorship program with its own curriculum. Two cohorts of students have collectively participated in 10 competitions (1 local fair, 3 regional fairs, 2 national fairs, 2 virtual fairs, and 2 Intel international fairs); winning a combined 21 ranked spots and special awards.
